Warren Spector: Deus Ex "Is Not Done For Me"
Warren Spector might be going filled Mickey these years but in a recent interview helium suggested that we could still experience some "Deus Passee stories" from him at some point in the future.
Spector has made around pretty awesome games complete the years, none more so than Deus Ex, his millennial taradiddle of a crumbling near-ulterior Earth which mixed numerous outrageous confederacy theories with a sluggish, dated game engine, impure textures, ugly models and absolutely god-awful phonation acting, and somehow came up with an explosive bundle of pure, mind-blowing awesomeness as a result. Naturally, fans everyplace were disappointed when he declared in June of last year that he was "disgusted making games some guys in inkiness leather carrying guns." It was, away whol appearances, the last apprehend in the coffin.
Merely perchance not. In a new consultation with Potpourri, seemingly to talk about Epic Mickey, Spector revealed that he might not live quite as tired of the J.C. Denton set as he'd let on. Antecedent to the sale of Colligation Point Studios to Disney, he said he'd approached the accompany looking for a publishing house for two projects he was already working happening: "A big, big fantasy game" based on a setting he'd originally created for DC Comics, and a near-future sci-fi title delineate as a "spectral replacement to Deus Letter x in some ways."
"On that point were and still are Deus Ex stories I would like to differentiate. That narrative is not through for me," Spector aforesaid. "[For the sci-fi game] I sort of filed the ordering numbers off. Deus Ex was very much a game of the millennium."
The possibility of more Deus Ex isn't rightful wishful thinking; Spector as wel said that while his own attempts to secure the rights to the dealership from Eidos were unsuccessful, Disney was able-bodied to pick them up when it purchased Junction Taper off in 2007. Disney Deus Ex, anyone?
